We visited 34 pickleball clubs before we broke ground. We wrote down everything we hated. Then we built the opposite.
1. The courts came first
Every square foot decision started with 'does this make a better court experience?' If the answer was no, we cut it, even if it meant a smaller lounge.
2. The staff had to play
Every hire — front desk to CFO — has to be a pickleball player. Because a club run by people who don't play always feels like one.
3. The community had to run itself
The best clubs feel like their members built them. Our job is to hand people the keys and get out of the way.
